The Bailey Medical Center PLAY Program is designed to offer parents and youth opportunities to participate in activities and learn about creating healthier families.
This program was developed in response to a growing national trend in adult and childhood obesity. Our hope is to offer our resources to Owasso and the surrounding community in a way that can assist parents and youth in creating a healthier family.
Bailey Medical Center has partnered with Owasso Public Schools to roll out the PLAY Program Passport. These passports will be handed out to over 4,500 children from Pre-K to 5th grade. The passports are a community action project with local restaurants, sports teams, Owasso Schools and Bailey Medical Center. The PLAY Program staff will coordinate with Owasso Elementary School music, computer and PE teachers to develop material to reinforce the PLAY Program concepts over the second semester.
The PLAY Program will also continue to develop events for kids and parents. In August of 2013, The Bailey Medical Center Strong Kids Triathlon was held for kids 5-15 years old. This PLAY Program event was held in partnership with the Owasso Family YMCA. More events will come in 2014!
